Microsoft connectivity test - Advanced settings

Microsoft has several tests that will examine the Exchange services utilized by Nylas and determine if they are running properly. The two services used by Nylas that can be tested are Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) and Exchange Web Services (EWS)

Advanced settings are usually needed to be filled by the users when their exchange server doesn't have autodiscovery setup. In these cases, the user needs to find out the correct username/Exchange server settings from their email admin before running these tests.

For a successful authentication, we need at least one of these tests to pass, i.e all green checks on the resulting HTML file. If both these tests fail, the user would need to reach out to their email admin to fix their setup in order to pass at least one of these tests. Without a successful test result, user cannot authenticate their account.

Exchange ActiveSync tests:

For on-premise Exchange mailboxes:

  1. Have the user visit the following page: https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/Eas/input
  2. Click on Manually specify server settings
  3. Enter the details
  4. Check the Ignore Trust for SSL box and I understand... box
  5. Finish the Captcha and click "Perform Test"
  6. When the test is finished, click the link on the top right of the page to save the results as an HTML file and send that file back over to us to analyze.

Exchange Web Service tests:

For on-premise Exchange mailboxes:

  1. Please have the user visit the following page: https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/EwsTask/input
  2. Enter the details - Email address, username, password
  3. Select Specify Exchange Web Services server
  4. Fill in the Exchange Web Services hostname (FQDN)
  5. Check the Ignore Trust for SSL box and I understand... box
  6. Finish the Captcha and click "Perform Test"
  7. When the test is finished, click the link on the top right of the page to save the results as an HTML file and send that file back over to us to analyze.
