How to resolve "User cannot perform operation: APPLICATION_READ" Error in the Nylas Dashboard

When using the Nylas Dashboard, you might encounter the error:

"User cannot perform operation: APPLICATION_READ"

This issue arises because the logged-in account does not have sufficient permissions to access production application settings. Specifically, it occurs if your account is not an Admin account within the organization.

Steps to Resolve:

  1. Verify Account Role:

    • Navigate to the Organization Settings in the Nylas Dashboard.
    • Check your role under the Members section. If your role is set as "Member" instead of "Admin," you will not have the required permissions.
  2. Request Role Change:

    • Contact an Admin within your organization.
    • Ask them to update your role to Admin via the Members settings page.
  3. Update Role:

Once your role is updated to Admin, the error should no longer occur, and you will gain the necessary access to perform the required operations.
