Issues with Gmail accounts or grants using IMAP

We have begun to see Gmail randomly invalidate credentials for accounts or grants connected via IMAP.  The error message returned will mention something like "Please log into your account in a web browser" from Gmail.

Google's strongly recommends using their OAuth process via our Gmail provider.  To help encourage users to switch to OAuth, they have added additional security checks that require additional re-authentications.

If a user selects IMAP as the provider and enters a Gmail mailbox when creating a new account or grant with Nylas, they should expect to regularly need to re-authenticate to keep this account or grant working.  We can't bypass this.

Users often pick IMAP for Gmail mailboxes to create a Nylas account that is connected to a mailbox in Gmail, but sends out emails to a third party SMTP server like SendGrid or similar.
