Migrating Nylas Applications and Users Between Regions
Nylas regions (US, EU) are fully isolated for data residency and compliance. Data cannot be transferred directly between regions. To migrate your application and users from the US to the EU datacenter, follow these steps:

Create a new Nylas application in the EU region
- Log in to the Nylas Dashboard and select the EU region.
- Create a new application for your EU data residency needs.

Set up authentication for the new application
- Configure your provider connectors and authentication flows as you did in the US region.

Migrate user grants
- Users must re-authenticate with the new EU application. This creates new grants in the EU region.
- You can migrate all users at once (recommended within the same month for billing alignment), or onboard new users to the EU app first and migrate existing users over time.

Clean up old grants
- Once users are migrated, delete duplicate grants from your old (US) application using this endpoint.

Billing adjustments
- If you migrate all users in the same month, contact the Nylas Billing team to adjust your bill and avoid double-billing.
Important notes:
- Data (messages, events, contacts) cannot be transferred between regions due to security and compliance restrictions.
- If you need to maintain continuity (e.g., message threading, event history), consider mapping identifiers on your end before migration.
- Each region requires a separate Nylas organization and application.
